Thank you very much for the quick and elaborate response.
"Do you have any suggestion where I can let the boots resole in the Netherlands?
Would this include usage of original LLOYS soles?
The soles haven’t crumbled yet, so I will try of the average silicone spray. (even when silicone isn’t exactly what you want to spill on a boat)
So if I understand it right, low (below zero) temperatures are to be avoided, so storage on board in the winter is not a good practice?
And heating the soles can “permanently” soften the sole again after cold, or is it just that as long as warmed up some of the original properties are restored?
I understand of the life of usage, but it indeed seems such a waste that boots otherwise in a quite perfect state are being limited by the mechanism of aging of the sole."
"Unfortunately we do not know anywhere in the Netherlands. However, one of our international distributors near you might be able to assist and know somewhere that could re-sole them.
I imagine that un-hardening the soles is a process that you might have to keep doing over time in-order to extend the products life and get the most out of them, just as you would do with waterproof clothing that has a waterproof coating? Sometimes the waterproof coating might need topping up through a spray.
It could also be better to store the shoes else where during winter months, just so they will be out of the cold to protect them.
As for your other email about another person having a similar problem and wants to replace them? One of our local distributors to them should be able to assist them finding a replacement, we aren’t able to distribute to everyone from the UK. I’ve linked all the info at the bottom of this response. Should anyone not get responses from their local distributors they can email us here and we will do our best to make sure the relevant teams respond to their emails.
I hope this helps you and others in the forum you are in and should you need our assistance again please do not hesitate to get in touch with us."
