PS: The initial version only had US coverage. So the unit was feet. I need to figure out a way to maybe automatically change depth unit to appropriate unit esp. for everywhere else besides US.

Karl, I like this initiative, especially useful for trip-planning. Can you say something about the accuracy of the map data, for instance the latest positions of the bouyons and depths?

For Netherlands, most of the data is derived from NLHO ENCs(link to NLHO Here). NLHO updates their ENCs periodically and the updates are reflected on the viewer as well.

Depths typically depend on the water level and are usually calculated with respect to an elevation (usually referred to as chart datum). The next version of website viewer would include support for depth offset. So if the water level falls, a custom negative offset could be applied.

A lot of grey areas in the region I usually sail. Especially in and around harbours I frequently visit. Not very useful to me, unfortunately.

This is the harbour of Dinteloord. There are at least 3 active marinas in this grey area.

On the other side of the Volkerak there's a small town called Ooltgensplaat. The entrance channel is narrow and rather shallow, but certainly navigable. But alas, it is grey:
